GUIDELINES FOR PROF ARCOT GAJARAJ BEST PAPER AWARD FOR ONLY SOUTHERN CHAPTER

 

1. The award consisting of a certificate and Rs 10,000 for the best paper should be announced in the conference brochure.
2. Selection of papers:
   1. Only original work carried out in the southern states is to be considered.
   2. Case reports cannot be considered. Both clinical and technical research work, comparative studies and survey reports can be accepted.
   3. At least one of the co-authors should be a member of the Southern Chapter
   4. The scientific committee of the organizers shall screen the abstracts and select 6 papers to be included in the session. If there are more submissions, the remaining papers may be accepted for presentation in the non-award free paper session – oral/poster as decided by the scientific committee.
3. Conducting the session:
   1. The session is to be chaired by the current President of the Chapter who will introduce Late Prof Arcot Gajaraj to the audience with few slides before beginning the paper presentation.
   2. The organizers of the conference shall nominate the co-chairperson for the session.
   3. Each presentation shall be for 8 minutes followed by 2 minutes discussion
   4. The President shall appoint 3 senior members attending the conference as judges for valuating the paper presentations who should be intimated in advance. They shall not be in any way associated with the paper presentations made in this session. Objective scoring is to be made for scientific content, clinical relevance, slide quality, presentation skill, time management and handling of questions independently by all three and then summed up for ranking. In the event of a tie, consensus will we reached to decide the winner.
   5. The winner is to be announced at the Valedictory function where the award will be handed over by the President.
